There were Mariachis serenading people in the streets of Pueblo this morning as the 2011 Colorado State Fair Fiesta Day Parade rolled through town.
The parade heralds the start of Fiesta Day at the fair, typically one of the busiest days of the season. Dozens of brightly decorated floats took park, each competing for one of the 6 trophies awarded for syle, creativity and theme.
US Senator Mark Udall, (D) Boulder, joined the parade march as it left the parking lot of the Steelworks Museum on E. Abriendo Avenue and wound up Northern Avenue to the fairgrounds.
This is the 44th anniversary of Fiesta Day, a statewide celebration of hispanic culture in Colorado. Fairgoers will be treated to a variety of live musical performances today including a headline concert by Los Lobos.
There are also traditional dances and equestrian events at venues through the fair including the Celebracion de los Charros at the Budweiser Rodeo Arena.
